How it works
Every lottery defines a pool of numbers and how many you draw from it. Powerball is five numbers from 1–69 plus one from 1–26; a Pick 3 game is three digits from 0–9. Lottery Colors reads that format from a catalog of all 859 games, then splits each pool into coloured bands — red covering the low numbers, then orange, yellow, green and blue across the rest of the range.
You pick colours. The generator draws one random number from inside each band you chose and assembles them into a line the game will actually accept: correct quantity, correct range, no duplicates. The result is an ordinary random selection, arrived at by a choice that is easier to make than picking six numbers from a blank grid. The colour system is explained in full here.
The reason it is worth choosing this way is distribution, not luck. Most hand-picked lines come from dates, which crowds players onto the numbers 1 to 31 and leaves the upper half of the range thinly played. Colour bands span the whole pool evenly, so a colour-picked line is less likely to collide with thousands of other tickets. That does not make winning more likely — it makes a win less likely to be split.
